Qualification Requirements
Entry Requirements to become an Approved Driving Instructor (ADI)
- Age 21+
- Deemed a Fit and Proper Person
- Held a UK Manual Driving Licence for 3 years+
- Not disqualified from driving in the last 4 years
- No more than 6 penalty points on your licence.
- Pass DBS check (renewed every 4 years)
How to become an Approved Driving Instructor (ADI)?
- There are 3 exams you need to pass
- The first exam (theory) can have unlimited attempts the next two exams allow 3 attempts to pass
- Once you pass the first exam you have 2 years to pass the rest.
What are the 3 ADI Exams?
- Part 1 – Theory and Hazard Perception
- Part 2 – Test of Driving Ability
- Part 3 – Test of Instructional Ability
